Overview
Danipa Pay lets you send money from your wallet directly to a Ghanaian recipient's mobile money account. You send in CAD or USD, and the recipient gets paid out in GHS via MTN Mobile Money — typically within an hour on the Express tier.
Requirement: You must be at least STANDARD KYC tier to send money. See the KYC Verification guide if you haven't verified yet.
Supported Corridors
| Send currency | Receive currency | Provider | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| CAD (Canada) | GHS (Ghana) | MTN Mobile Money | Live |
| USD (United States) | GHS (Ghana) | MTN Mobile Money | Live |
| GBP (United Kingdom) | GHS (Ghana) | MTN Mobile Money | Coming soon |
We're rolling out additional corridors over time. The app shows only the corridors that are currently enabled for your account.
How to Send Money
Step 1: Open Send Flow
From the home screen, tap Send Money. The first screen shows the destination — Ghana — and lets you pick which corridor you're sending from (CAD → GHS or USD → GHS), based on the currencies you've funded your wallet in.
Step 2: Choose a Recipient
Pick a saved recipient from your list, or add a new one inline:
- Recent recipients — your most recent recipients appear as quick-select chips at the top.
- All recipients — the full list with search; each entry shows name, phone number, and the MTN MoMo badge.
- Add new recipient — tap to expand the inline form, enter the recipient's full name and MTN MoMo phone number, and tap Add & Select. The new recipient is saved for future transfers.
Step 3: Enter Amount
Enter how much you want to send. You can enter either side:
- You send — amount in your wallet currency (CAD or USD).
- They receive — amount in GHS.
The two stay synced — changing one auto-calculates the other using the live exchange rate.
The rate card shows:
- Exchange rate — the rate for your corridor.
- Transfer fee — the fee for this corridor + speed tier (see below).
- They receive — the GHS amount that will land in the recipient's MoMo wallet.
- Rate lock countdown — how long the rate is held; tap to refresh once it expires.
Speed Tiers
Pick how fast the transfer should land:
| Tier | Delivery | Flat fee | FX margin |
|---|---|---|---|
| Express | Typically within an hour | 2.99 (in your send currency) | 0.5% |
| Economy | 1–2 business days | 0.99 (in your send currency) | 0.5% |
The fee and rate update automatically when you switch tiers.
Step 4: Review & Confirm
The review screen shows:
- You send — the amount in your currency.
- Fee — the flat fee for the speed tier.
- Total cost — the full amount debited (amount + fee).
- Exchange rate — the rate applied to this transfer.
- They receive — the GHS amount.
- Speed tier + delivery estimate — Express (within an hour) or Economy (1–2 business days).
- Payment via — MTN Mobile Money.
- Your remaining limits — daily + monthly cap, based on your KYC tier.
Tap Send Now to continue.
Step 5: Authenticate
Danipa Pay uses step-up authentication for transfers. Depending on your account setup and the transfer amount, you'll be asked for:
- Biometrics (Face ID / fingerprint), or
- Passkey (if enrolled), or
- TOTP code from your authenticator app (if enrolled), or
- SMS code sent to your registered phone.
Higher amounts may require an additional confirmation. See the Security & Settings guide for which methods you can enroll.
Step 6: Success
Once the transfer is submitted, you'll see a confirmation screen with the amount sent + received and the recipient's name. From here you can:
- View Activity — see the transfer in your transaction history.
- Done — return to the home screen.
Transfer Fees
Fees are flat per corridor + speed tier (see Step 3) plus a 0.5% FX margin built into the displayed exchange rate. The rate card on the amount screen shows the all-in cost before you confirm — no hidden charges.
Exchange Rates
Rates are quoted live for each corridor. When you view a rate, it's locked for a set period (shown as a countdown). The lock guarantees the rate won't change while you finish the transfer. If it expires, tap to refresh.
See the Exchange Rates guide for how rates are calculated and where to monitor them.
Transfer Limits
Limits are governed by your KYC verification tier. They're expressed in GHS (the regulatory baseline) and apply to the receive-side amount:
| KYC tier | Daily | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| STANDARD | GHS 5,000 | GHS 20,000 |
| ENHANCED | GHS 50,000 | GHS 200,000 |
Your remaining daily and monthly limits are shown on the review screen so you can size each transfer.
Transfer Status
After sending, track the transfer in Activity:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | Transfer submitted; queued for the provider. |
| Processing | Provider is delivering the funds. |
| Completed | Recipient's MoMo wallet has received the money. |
| Failed | Transfer could not be completed; funds are returned to your Danipa wallet. |
Managing Recipients
You can add recipients two ways:
During the send flow — tap Add New Recipient on the recipient screen, fill in name + phone, tap Add & Select.
From your profile — go to Profile → Recipients → Add Recipient, enter name + phone + (where applicable) delivery method.
See the Saved Recipients guide for managing the recipient list.
