Saved Recipients
Save and manage the people you send money to so repeat transfers are quick.

Overview
Danipa Pay saves the people you send money to so you don't have to type their details every time. Saved recipients live under Profile → Saved Recipients in the mobile app.
Delivery methods
Each recipient is saved against one delivery method. The mobile app supports three today:
| Method | What you'll need to enter |
|---|---|
| MTN MoMo | Recipient's name, phone number, country |
| Vodafone Cash | Recipient's name, phone number, country |
| Bank Transfer | Recipient's name, country, bank name, account number, branch code |
The backend can also store recipients with AirtelTigo and Telecel as legacy methods, but the mobile add-recipient form currently only offers MoMo, Vodafone, and Bank.
How recipients are created
Two ways:
- Automatically during a transfer. The first time you send to a new phone number or bank account on the Send tab, Danipa saves the recipient.
- Manually from the recipients screen. Open Profile → Saved Recipients and tap Add recipient.
Add a recipient manually
- Go to Profile → Saved Recipients.
- Tap Add recipient.
- Enter their name (as it should appear on the receipt).
- Pick the country.
- Pick the delivery method — MTN MoMo, Vodafone Cash, or Bank Transfer.
- Fill in the method-specific fields:
- For MoMo / Vodafone Cash: phone number.
- For Bank Transfer: bank name, account number, branch code.
- Tap Save.
The recipient appears in the list immediately and is available on the next Send.
Edit a recipient
- Tap a recipient on the Saved Recipients screen.
- Tap Edit.
- Update the name, phone, bank details, or method.
- Tap Save.
Edits apply to future transfers only — past transactions keep the details that were used at the time.
Delete a recipient
- Tap a recipient.
- Tap Delete and confirm.
The recipient is removed from your list. Your past transactions with that person remain in your activity history (regulatory record-keeping requires this).
Use a recipient when sending
On the Send tab, your saved recipients appear at the top of the recipient picker, sorted by most recent. Tap one, and the rest of the send flow runs with their details pre-filled — only the amount remains to enter (see Send Money).
Verification at send time
When you confirm a transfer, Danipa validates the recipient details against the chosen provider:
| Check | What it does |
|---|---|
| Phone-number format | Confirms it matches the country and provider rules |
| Provider lookup | For MoMo / Vodafone Cash, looks up the registered name on the wallet |
| Country match | Ensures the destination country matches the corridor's recipient country |
If the registered name on the recipient's wallet differs from the name you saved, you'll see a warning before you confirm. You can proceed or cancel — Danipa never sends money silently to a mismatched account.
Privacy
- Recipient details are stored securely on Danipa's servers and are only visible to you.
- Recipients are not notified when you save them. They only see a notification when a transfer actually arrives.
- Deleting a recipient removes them from your list; past transaction records are retained for regulatory and tax purposes.
Tips
- Double-check the first transfer. Once a recipient is saved, the saved details are reused — get them right the first time.
- Review periodically. Delete recipients you no longer send to so the list stays focused.
- Use Bank Transfer for business payouts. It's the right choice when paying contractors or suppliers who'd rather not receive on a personal MoMo account.
For setting up a recurring payout to staff or contractors, see Business Payroll — it's the bulk-pay equivalent of saved recipients on the merchant side.
