Notifications & Alerts
Choose what Danipa notifies you about, which channels (push, email, SMS) it uses, and when to stay quiet.

Overview
Danipa groups notifications into a small set of categories. For each category you decide which channels are used to reach you — push, email, or SMS — and you can set quiet hours to silence delivery during a window of your day.
Security-related notifications are protected: you can change the channels, but you cannot turn the category off completely.
Categories
Every Danipa notification belongs to one of these categories:
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Transaction | Money sent, received, fund-in completed, cash-out completed, transfer failed |
| Security | Login from a new device, MFA enrolled or disabled, password / PIN changed, Ghana Card verification result |
| Payment | Merchant payments received, payouts, invoice events |
| Promotion | New features, exchange-rate alerts, special offers |
Behind the scenes there is also a System category for service-level messages (planned maintenance, policy updates). System notifications follow the same channel-required-on rule as Security.
Channels
Each category can be delivered through any combination of three channels:
| Channel | Best for | Requires |
|---|---|---|
| Push | Real-time alerts on your phone | Mobile app installed and OS notifications enabled |
| Receipts, longer messages | Verified email on your profile | |
| SMS | Critical alerts when offline | Verified phone number; off by default |
Security & System rule. At least one channel must stay enabled for the Security and System categories. If you try to turn off all three, the change is rejected.
Manage your notification preferences
In the mobile app:
- Open the bell icon in the header (or Profile → Notifications).
- Each category is shown as its own card with three toggles: Push, Email, SMS.
- Tap a toggle to enable or disable that channel for that category. The change saves immediately.
The web apps (Danipa Pay, merchant dashboard) read the same settings — flipping a toggle on the phone applies everywhere.
Quiet hours
Quiet hours silence push notifications during a window you choose. Email and SMS still go through.
To set them up:
- Open Notifications → Quiet hours.
- Toggle Enable quiet hours.
- Set a start time (e.g. 22:00) and end time (e.g. 07:00).
- Tap Save.
A window that crosses midnight (start later than end) is supported — Danipa silences push from the start time through to the end time the next morning.
Security still wakes you up. Critical security events still deliver during quiet hours so you can react to suspicious activity.
Rate alerts
Rate alerts are part of the notification system but configured separately because they are tied to a specific currency pair.
To create one:
- Go to Notifications → Rate alerts (or open a corridor in Exchange Rates & FX).
- Enter the base currency (what you're sending) and target currency (what you're paying out).
- Enter the target rate you want to be notified at.
- Tap Add alert.
When the live rate reaches your target, Danipa sends a notification to whichever channels you have enabled for the Promotion category. You can delete an alert from the same screen.
Notification history
Every push, email, and SMS Danipa sends you is logged so you can review what was delivered and when.
To view your history:
- Open the bell icon on the home screen.
- Scroll the list — each row shows the title, channel, category, and time sent.
- Tap a row to see the full body and any related transaction.
Push troubleshooting
If push notifications don't arrive, check the OS settings before reporting an issue.
iOS
- Settings → Danipa → Notifications.
- Make sure Allow Notifications is on.
- Confirm Banners, Sounds, and Badges are enabled.
- Make sure Focus / Do Not Disturb is not silencing the app.
Android
- Settings → Apps → Danipa → Notifications.
- Make sure notifications are enabled.
- Remove the app from battery optimization (battery savers can delay or drop pushes).
- On Samsung, also check Device Care → Battery → Sleeping apps and remove Danipa.
Both platforms
- Confirm you're signed in to the app.
- Update to the latest version.
- Sign out and back in to refresh the device's push token.
- As a last resort, reinstall the app.
SMS notifications
SMS is reserved for critical messages and as a backup when push can't reach you. It's off by default in every category — turn it on per category from the notifications screen if you want it.
When SMS is on, expect it for:
- One-time codes during sign-in and step-up verification.
- Account-level security events (new device login, account locked).
- Cash-out and transfer confirmations when the app is in the background.
Danipa does not charge for SMS notifications. Standard carrier rates from your mobile provider may apply.
Email notifications
Email is on by default for the Transaction and Security categories. Each notification is rendered from a versioned template, so the wording and formatting stay consistent across receipts and alerts. To stop email for a non-security category, turn the Email channel off for that category.
