Overview
Danipa Pay can pay six categories of Ghana bills directly from your GHS wallet: Airtime, Data, Electricity, Water, TV, and Internet. Open the Bills quick action on the home screen, or Profile → Bills to start.
Bill payments are charged in GHS today; the providers below are Ghana-only. Other countries will be added as their corridors come online.
Supported providers
| Category | Provider | Account lookup | Per-payment limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airtime | MTN, Vodafone, AirtelTigo | No | GHS 1 – GHS 500 |
| Data | MTN, Vodafone, AirtelTigo | No | GHS 1 – GHS 500 |
| Electricity (prepaid) | ECG Prepaid | Yes | GHS 5 – GHS 5,000 |

"Account lookup" means Danipa fetches the account or meter from the provider before you confirm — useful for postpaid and metered services.
Fees
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| Airtime | None |
| Data | None |
| Electricity | GHS 0.50 flat |

The fee is added to the amount you pay and shown on the review screen before you confirm.
Pay a bill
- Open Bills from the home quick actions.
- Pick a category (Airtime, Data, Electricity, Water, TV, Internet).
- Pick the provider.
- Enter the account, meter, or phone number. For lookup-enabled providers, Danipa fetches the account name to confirm before you proceed.
- Enter the amount (or pick a pre-set amount).
- Review the fee and the total debit on the confirmation screen.
- Authorise with your transaction PIN or biometrics.
The bill payment shows as PENDING in your activity until the provider confirms; then it flips to COMPLETED with a receipt and any provider-issued reference (token code for prepaid electricity, top-up ref for airtime).
Saved billers
After your first payment to a metered or account-based provider, the biller is saved automatically. You can:
- Add a nickname so it's easy to find later.
- Mark it as a favourite to pin it to the top of the list.
- Edit the account number or nickname.
- Delete it when you no longer need it.
Saved billers are useful because they remove the lookup step on repeat payments.
Scheduled bill payments
Set up recurring payments that run automatically.
- Go to Bills → Scheduled.
- Tap New schedule.
- Pick the provider, account, and amount.
- Pick a frequency — Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.
- Pick the next run date.
- Save.
Each run executes on the chosen date. If the run completes, the schedule rolls forward to the next interval; if it fails, the schedule records the failure status and waits for the next interval (it does not retry mid-cycle).
You can pause or delete a schedule at any time from the Scheduled tab.
Bill payment history
Every bill payment is recorded in your activity. Open the transaction to see:
- Provider, account, amount, and fee.
- Status (Pending / Processing / Completed / Failed).
- Provider reference and any token code (for prepaid electricity).
- A downloadable PDF receipt.
You can filter the Activity tab to bills only, or open Bills → History for a category-grouped view.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to try |
|---|---|
| Lookup says "account not found" | Double-check the meter or account number with your provider — different providers use different formats |
| Prepaid token didn't arrive | Open the transaction detail; the token is stored there. Provider SMS may also be delayed |
| Payment marked Completed but service not active | Allow a few minutes for the provider to apply the credit. If still inactive, contact the provider with your reference |
| Provider unavailable | Try again later. Bill providers occasionally block during their own maintenance windows |
